Are you Smarterer than the average bear?
For the past few weeks, I have been checking out a site called “Smarterer” via the BzzAgent website.
It is a unique idea that has equal parts gaming and knowledge involved. Basically, you take these tests to see how proficient you are with a subject (e.g. Google Search or 80s Trivia) and earn badges accordingly. You can then stack up your scores with your friends and see who really is “smarterer” than the other.
So far, I have had some ups and downs with the site. I like the idea of the site, but the execution is … maddening sometimes. They do rely a lot on their users to correct mistakes and basically vote up or down some questions. That is frustrating, as sometimes the question will be hyper specific and you may know what you are doing but you can’t visualize seven menu items ahead.
The countdown timer is also a bit quicker than I would have liked. It takes some time to read some of these long questions and understand what they are asking for, and by the time you have gone through it, the timer is almost up! So, you may randomly guess, which lowers your score.
But, the idea is quite solid. The more people who join who are in your circle of friends, the more bragging you will be able to do against each other.
See if you can beat my scores on Smarterer … my username is oppodude.
And the best part of these tests? You may actually learn some new tips and tricks that will help you in the future.
I recommend you check it out.

My latest Bag of Crap has come in! And this time … it’s pretty darn good! Check it out!

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (Review)
In this space, I was going to review the Gary Oldman film, “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.”
Alas, after 30 minutes of watching it, we were beyond lost of what was happening, who was who, and where any action was. So we turned it off. Haven’t done that to a movie in a long time.
If you liked the movie, please tell me. Maybe it was all the English dudes who looked alike and the fact that the movie was jumping to different points in time without any demarcation on the screen.
Maybe when it comes to cable TV, I will have a better clue. Or, I should just read the book.
Latest Bag of Crap – still not crappy!
So excited that the latest BOC arrived in the mail today!
And Meg got hers on Saturday!
So we shared some of the same stuff including …
2 9V Batteries
1 Grape Bag
BUT, where we diverged were in our
Kids T-Shirt – I got the Four Classmates shirt
AND
I got two of these wonderful Diva Darling microfiber headbands
and the big surprise was this cow.
2006 Cow Parade cow made by the Herrington Teddy Bear Company.Limited edition #1257. So that’s pretty cool. (note: link goes to an ebay auction that is not mine. just wanted a better picture)
So all in all, a pretty good crap!
Two reality TV auction shows enter ….
and well, both actually leave. One of my guilty pleasures is watching stupid shows (see Lizard Lick Towing) and I have been intrigued by both Auction Hunters on Spike and Storage Wars on A&E. They both have their highs and their lows, but the “reality” part of the show actually goes to …
Sack of Crap!
It’s kind of fitting for my first post to have it be about crap. Not literal crap, but the kind of crap that you get from Woot!
As you may be aware, Woot has these Woot-Offs where the prized (for many) sale is the Bag of Crap. (Click on the link to find out more about the BOC, it’s much easier) Ocassionally, Woot sells the BOC just on its own (for instance on April Fool’s Day or Woot’s Birthday, or in this case, Christmas). But it wasn’t as easy as logging in and then clicking buy. They “hid” it via a link. Luckily, I got one this year! (Totalling 13 – yes. I am obsessed).
So today the friendly USPS guy brought to me Santa’s Sack of Crap – and I am quite happy with the haul!
As you can see from the image, I got …
1 Giant Microbes Mad Cow Disease (Worth about $13)
1 Kids Night Out Bingo (~$8)
2 Avanti Wash Towels (~$20 total)
2 Cupcake Lip Gloss (~$4)
1 Bag (priceless)
1 Excuses Spitball Dartboard (~$13)
Not too shabby for an $8 investment. But the most fun of the Bag (sack) of Crap is the wait. During the moments from ordering to getting a tracking number to finally seeing a weight … you just wonder what they will put in the box. Will it be something totally useless? Something tacky? That is where the real fun is. Opening it and actually enjoying the crap … it’s just icing on the cake.
